1972 Local Cold Case

Does anyone remember anything about the day that it happened? I know it started snowing around 3pm that day and the storm got worse as the evening went on. Did the schools or any local businesses close down due to the weather? Wasn't there supposed to be a basketball game at the university that evening?

I found a newspaper article saying that their car dealership opened around July of 1970, debuting the Buick Electra for the grand opening. I have a photo of it from an old magazine but I don't see a way to share that here.

Does anyone know if D*N*A was recovered at the scene? I have heard about some partial prints...

I was always told that if a certain person in the county liked you that you could get away with murder and if he disliked you that you better watch your back. I was told this by friends who were family to said person

Joe, you just might be on to something there.

I know the handling of the crime scene was bungled so badly it was used as a example of what not to do when I when thru BLET. They apparently let every one and their brother trample the crime scene including one of the county commissioners.

That may have be on purpose

I really don't know anything about the case, only what I have heard. Many believe drugs were involved. Where did the money come from they used to buy the car dealership?

I remember it well, Virginia was my aunt. I have my ideas about it but I doubt if we will ever know. Yes they had a car dealership. Acumen I hope you are not saying that Brice, Virginia and Bobby was transporting drugs. If you are then you need to stay out of it. I know a **** of lot more about them than you do. If drugs was being shipped I can guarantee it wasn't the ones murdered doing the shipping. There is a lot written about it online if you google it and do a little research you will see why some don't want it known who did it.

I don't remember a Durham car dealership, but maybe there was......

There have been many theories about the case over the years with the central question hinging on motive.

Drugs were being transported in used and new cars carried by trucks. How hard is that to understand? Wasn't this family involved in both Christmas trees and car sales?

"trucks full of cars"?, Acu can you explain that whatever????

Acumen

Also, it is well known that illegal drugs were being transported in trucks full of cars in that time.

I heard it was all about drugs. It was most likely a Columbian cartel. I was told by SC law enforcement that the Medellin Drug cartel was active in the Wilkes and surrounding area in the 1970's.

I have heard this as well. But it seems likely that more than one person had to be involved, right?

I think the (now former) son in law is the most likely suspect, as I recall.
