What happens if Sparta breaks off and slides down the mountain into Wilkes county? All I know is that I'm not paying for that lame teapot museum.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports there have been seven earthquakes in Alleghany County in the last 24 hours.

This is the latest in a series of tremors and aftershocks since the 5.1 magnitude quake that hit Sparta on Aug. 9. It was the most powerful earthquake to hit North Carolina in more than 100 years.
